Google Backup and Sync is finally available. This new tool allows you to back up all your data on your computer to the Google cloud to keep them safe and accessible from all your devices.
Last month, Google announced a BackUp computer application. Starting today, this application, called Backup and Sync, is finally available for Mac and PC. The tool allows you to automatically save files and folders of your choice to the Google Drive or Google Photos cloud. Concretely, this new application combines the two services for simplicity.
As with Google’s smartphone success story application , users can choose to save their photos and videos in an optimized format to save storage space or maintain their original quality. Additionally, as with the Google Drive for PC app, it is possible to synchronize Drive files on the PC and access them from the File Explorer or from the Drive application on any compatible device (smartphone, tablet or computer).
Backup and Sync: a Mac and PC application to combine Google Drive and Google Photos
In all objectivity, Backup and Sync works very well. Unfortunately, the price of storage space is very high compared to other similar backup services such as Backblaze and Carbonite. However, this rate allows you to enjoy a trustworthy, easy-to-use service, stamped with the Google quality seal. Moreover, the application is very practical since it allows to store all its emails, photos, files and document of any kind on one and the same platform.
Google recommends business users not to download this tool. The company plans to launch a new enterprise solution called Drive File Stream. The latter will be offered in Google G Suite later this year. For individuals, the Backup and Sync app for Google Drive and Google Photos is now available at this address.
