Microsoft announced that the latest Windows 10 update would arrive in a phased and very controlled fashion. It justified this decision so that this update would run smoothly.
According to recent information, there is a recent family of Intel processors that may not receive this update due to compatibility issues.
Microsoft has always stated that support for its recent updates would be extended and that any recent processor could receive them. The limitations, if any, would be with older models that would be outdated.
Problems with Intel processors in Windows 10
The truth is that several Acer devices are already unable to receive the latest update and this is due to compatibility issues with Intel’s Atom Clover Trail processors. The list of processors is as follows:
- Atom Z2760
- Atom Z2520
- Atom Z2560
- Atom Z2580
These processors equipped the tablets of Acer, and were released to the market with Windows 8. The update would be logical, but those who have managed to do are having problems. There are still many users who are being denied the update.
End of Windows 10 support for these processors?
Although Microsoft has not yet ruled on this issue, Acer has warned that it is working with the company to circumvent this limitation.
Microsoft is working with us to provide compatible drivers to address this incompatibility. If you install the Windows 10 Creators Update, icons and text may not appear at all, or may show up as solid color blocks or bars. If you have already installed Creators Update and are experiencing problems, you can use Windows 10 recovery options to restore your system to the previous build.
It is not yet clear what the problem will be, but it should affect many users. These Intel processors were not very successful, given their processing limitations, but would be expected to support Windows 10, even in the latest versions.
